Words in my Head

The day began with a boom and a bash and a ripcord of blustering wind. The change of weather sent a spike through my skull; a keening that began before morning light. It followed me walking dogs and sitting with cats. I swim through the muck and seaweed in my mind, trying to find one coherent thought. But all I hear is that one high pitched note; all I see is light so blinding; all I know is this migraine. There are times when brain pain is followed by genius inspiration. This, I fear, is not one of those times.
