Daily Drabble 29: Post-it Inspiration

Post-it found in one of the books returned at the library today:

"Xemes play the xylophone in former Xanadu, Southeast Aisa."

When he woke in former Xanadu, Xemes was surprised. He managed to avoid Aisa despite it sitting right on top of the Southeast Asia. Most folks slipped easily between the two once they knew that the shadow land was there. Aisa was an escape from the responsibilities waiting in Asia. But no matter how hard anyone tried, they stretched like rubber bands and would always snap back. No one could stay for longer than a week. At least not until Xemes. After he’d been there for a month, he realized he would never snap back. That’s when the xylophone arrived.

Daily Drabble 14: Library Shoe

Shoe found in the library

“I left it at the library.”

“What?” Her mom looked at her daughter with the phone still pressed against her ear.

Celia sighed. “My shoe, mom. I left it.”

Her mom stared with a slack jaw. The person on the other end kept saying hello. “Sorry. I’m gonna have to call you back. Uh-huh. Okay, bye.” She hung up. “Now, what?”

“I left my shoe at the library ‘cause the librarian said the charming prince lives in the books. Now I wait for him to find it.”

“Celia, you don’t need a prince. Be more than a princess who waits.”

Daily Drabble 9: Mischief

I’m on my lunch break when a trio of young almost teenagers burst into the Storytime Room where I’m microwaving my meal. They look surprised to see me.

“Can I help you?” If I had glasses, I would have pushed them up the bridge of my nose.

One of them crosses his legs and cups his crotch. “Oh, I have to pee so bad! Where’s the bathroom?”

I cock an eyebrow, showing him that I don’t believe him for a second, then point to the hall just behind them. “You just passed it.”

They stumble out of the room, giggling.

Could they be more clearly labeled?

Daily Drabble 1: The Meta Drabble

I’m going to start posting Daily Drabbles!

It shouldn’t be too hard, right? Just a hundred words a day? And some days it’ll be my Drabble Dreams counting as my Daily Drabble. Oh! And I shall include pictures! Possibly a photograph or something I drew or painted or created in some other medium. I can dedicate them and, if I EVER get better about mailing things, send my “creations” to the dedicated people.

If someone dislikes it, well, they can just be glad it’s only one hundred words.

This is my blog and I shall post what I like.  Yay!

Flower for Drabble

Library

I feel I'm on the cusp of a new life journey. After applying for library jobs for over two years, I finally got one! On April 22nd I started my part-time Circulation Clerk position. I'm still doing the dog walking and the pet sitting, which I love, but I feel that I've stepped on the path to my future. I loved working in bookstores but I think I love working in a library just that much more.

I know this isn't much of a post, but I haven't posted in so long and I wanted to post something. My new plan is to post once a week.
